In the digital age, cameras at their most affordable, just about anybody can be a great photographer.
Man or woman plus machine, is what takes good pictures. You can't do it, without the camera and it can't do anything, without YOU.

We all can recognize wonderful photographic images when we see them.  Putting that EYE to use behind the camera isn't any different, it can be learned, applied and practiced into a comfortable habit. As with anything we attempt, the more you practice, the better you'll get.

Let's look at these simple mistakes people make, when taking digital pictures and their simple fixes:

1. Lack of knowledge about your camera
Read and use your digital camera's instruction manual. Keep it handy (use a camera bag)
2. Not holding the camera steady
The best support is by using a tripod (they are essential in low light). However, any support will do in a pinch.
3. Focus Factor
Digital photography still requires time to focus properly.  Every situation is different take your time.
4. Set for success
Learn about and practice using the camera's setting: Macro, portrait, action, etc.
5. Zoom...zoom
The camera's zoom makes the picture more distorted. Get closer to your subject, where possible.
6. Lights, camera, interaction
Use natural light as much as possible.  Shining on or across your subject, not behind it.  Use flash sparingly.
7. Practice makes perfect
The beauty of digital photography is that, you don't have to use photos, you don't like.  So get out there and shoot it up. Try different positions, directions and compositions.  The perfect shot is out there, but generally it's not the first.
8. One shot, one subjectJack of all trades master of none. Master the shot of your main subject.  Don't try to include too much in the photo.
9. What is a Photographer without a camera?
Good photo ops are unpredictable, so be ready, have your camera with you at all times.
10. The center of attention
Divide the photo into thirds and put your subject in the middle third.  How easy is that???
11. Keep things on the level
Don't take cock-eyed photos, especially if the horizon is in the picture.
12. Not having the equipment you need for the shot
Fresh batteries, storage medium, lens, cleaning cloth, neck strap, tripod, protective case, etc.
13. Set the Resolution to the highest pixel setting
You will go through more memory (less pictures per gigabyte), however your picture quality and editing options will be far greater.  So buy some extra storage space.....it's cheap and well worth it.
